Dolly Parton may be begging Jolene to not take her man, but she’s totally fine with Beyoncé taking the song for her new country album.

After Beyoncé dropped the track list for Cowboy Carter on Wednesday, Parton shared her reaction to the superstar seemingly including a cover of Parton’s 1973 chart-topping hit “Jolene.”

“Play the original while you wait for @beyonce’s ‘Jolene,’” the country legend wrote on her Instagram Story.

Parton shared a similar message on X. Posting the cover art for her 1974 album Jolene alongside a shot of Beyoncé’s track list, Parton wrote, “Listen to my original ‘Jolene’ while you wait for @Beyonce’s COWBOY CARTER - Dolly P.” The sign-off is how Beyoncé references Parton in the track list image.

Earlier this month, Beyoncé opened up about making her first-ever country album, which is due out Friday.

“This album has been over five years in the making. It was born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed…and it was very clear that I wasn’t,” she reflected in an Instagram post. “But, because of that experience, I did a deeper dive into the history of Country music and studied our rich musical archive. It feels good to see how music can unite so many people around the world, while also amplifying the voices of some of the people who have dedicated so much of their lives educating on our musical history.”

Bey also teased the collaborations on Cowboy Carter, adding, “I have a few surprises on the album, and have collaborated with some brilliant artists who I deeply respect. I hope that you can hear my heart and soul, and all the love and passion that I poured into every detail and every sound.”
